The mega-supermarket chain Tesco has reported 9 percent of chickens tested in the first quarter this year had the highest level of Campylobacter contamination.
This is above the Food Standards Agency (FSA) target of 7 percent and Tesco’s own benchmar
Tesco has withdrawn one of its own brands of honey from sale after tests suggested it contained cheap syrups made from ordinary sugar.
The retail chain initially refused to remove the honey but changed its mind last night after a leading food safety
The retailer is committed to removing excess packaging from Tesco brand and branded products. Tesco also briefed suppliers that from next year, the size and suitability of packaging will be assessed as part of category reviews and ranging decisions.
