Overview of role:
Reporting to the Site Quality Assurance Head, the Plant Microbiologist is responsible for managing the microbiological and plant hygiene agenda within a large food manufacturing facility.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage Microbiological and Plant Hygiene requirements within the manufacturing site
- Responsible for co-ordinating microbiology activities in our Infant Milk Formulation plant and our Spray Drying plant
- Process microbial monitoring including troubleshooting as to type and source.
- Environmental control & monitoring (eg cleaning and sanitation practices, hygienic zoning)
- Technical lead person for identifying and implementing best practices in plant hygiene & production microbiology.
- Ensure testing is performed in accordance with cGMP and GLP
- Participate in and lead allocated action teams
- Be knowledgeable about the plant equipment and environment for optimum performance in equipment and environmental swabbing
- Investigate and document non-compliance or out of specification situations in the lab
- Provide trending reports on an ongoing basis
- Write SOPs and protocols
- Carry out equipment validation if required
- Assist in training of relevant employees on microbiological processes, procedures and other requirements
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in the Nutritional/ Food/Pharmaceutical industry
- Strong familiarity with cGMP and laboratory equipment
- Strong people and organisational skills
Education/Qualifications:
- Degree in Microbiology / Biotechnology / Food Science or a related discipline is essential
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in the Nutritional/ Food/Pharmaceutical industry
- Strong familiarity with cGMP and laboratory equipment
- Strong people and organisational skills
