Reporting to the Director of Quality GII, this role will have responsibility for oversight and management of the QC Microbiology capability development including methods development , Food Safety & HACCP systems development and Hygiene Programs development across GII Network

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Microbiology, Food Safety/HACCP & Hygiene systems harmonisation across all GII sites
  • Ensure Microbiological laboratory facilities are matching leading industry standards
  • Proactively improve microbiological methods in line and ahead of industry best practice.
  • Manage the continuous improvement of Environmental Monitoring Programme through on-going monitoring and performance tracking
  • Work closely with relevant site stakeholders including Quality, Operations, R&D, Supply Chain and Commercial staff, to problem solve quality issues.
  • Support Microbiological Quality investigations at the plants
  • Ensure compliance to leading laboratory quality system accreditation.
  • Support customer and Regulatory audits within the site laboratories.
  • Support leading practices for management of health & safety standards in microbiological lab
  • Lead an internal audit program to assess heath of key quality systems and testing proficiencies across laboratories in the network

Role Requirements

  • Degree in Food Science or equivalent, with a strong preference for Microbiology
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in leading and managing the performance of a team, preferably in a Food, Dairy or Beverage Laboratory environment, is a strong advantage
  • Degree qualification in Microbiology is a requirement
  • Proven knowledge of quality systems and standards, food microbiology methods, problem-solving, HACCP & analytical lab validation and Lean
  • Team player with a proven ability to build cross functional relationships and multiple sites
  • Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office , SAP QM and LIMS is desirable
