Title of Project:

Food for Health Ireland (FHI).- Phase II Programme – Infant Nutrition

Basic Function:

The FHI Glyco-technologist will focus on investigating methods to produce milk oligosaccharides at large scale by employing membrane filtration and/or chromatography. The successful Research Officer will be a key appointment within the FHI project and will interact proactively with the extended FHI team. The successful candidate should have a broad background in Food Science/Technology and Food Glycobiology. The research focus of the post will relate to production and selection of milk oligosaccharides with bioactive properties.

Contract Research Officer (Ref: CRO/PN/0815)

Title of Project: 

Pig Intestinal Microbiota and Feed Efficiency

Basic Function:

The project on which the successful candidate will work is part of a European Union Seventh Framework Programme project titled “A whole-systems approach to optimising feed efficiency and reducing the ecological footprint of monogastrics (ECO-FCE)”. This is a collaborative multi-disciplinary project and is comprised of 17 partner Institutes from across Europe. As well as working on the Teagasc project tasks, the selected candidate will also be expected to be involved in post-graduate student supervision and reporting to the EU. Applicants must have a minimum of a PhD in microbial genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, animal science, or a related discipline. The successful candidate will have a good publication record as well as strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Relevant post-doctoral research experience, while not essential, is desirable. The appointment will be on the basis of a temporary contract for a period of 19 months and the appointee will be based in Moorepark.
