Two multi-million funding schemes for Agriculture R&D

£70m Agri-Tech Catalyst

The £70m Agri-Tech Catalyst offers funding for collaborative projects, taking innovative ideas from any sector or discipline with the potential to benefit the UK Agri-Tech industry.

The 5th round of funding is open to proposals relating to: primary crop and livestock production, including aquaculture; non-food uses of crops including ornamentals; food security and nutrition challenges in international development; and challenges in downstream food processing, provided the solution lies in primary production.

£5m Sustainable Agriculture Research & Innovation Club (SARIC) ‘Predictive capabilities for sustainable agriculture’

The second funding call of the Sustainable Agriculture Research & Innovation Club (SARIC) is now open. Around £5M is available for this call, split between Research grants (£3.5M) and Research Translation grants (£1.5M).

The call will focus on the theme ‘Predictive capabilities for sustainable agriculture’, and aims to provide decision makers with the ability to forecast, interpret and respond to potential threats to UK crop and livestock production systems.

This will be achieved by harnessing the potential of observational technologies (e.g. earth observation, mapping, sensors) and analysis technologies (e.g. modelling, big data and analytics), and by combining observations with models to improve predictive capability for sustainable agriculture in the UK at a range of scales.

The deadline for applications is 16 September 2015, 4pm.
