Irish Maritime Development Office

The Irish Maritime Development Office (IMDO) was established by Statute in December 1999 and commenced operations in July 2000, operating as part of the Marine Institute. It is Ireland’s national dedicated development, promotional and marketing agency for the shipping services sector. The office also has a statutory mandate to report to the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport.

Summary of the Position

The Business Development manager will be responsible for delivering new clients in a pressurised and competitive environment. Consequently the ideal candidate will be capable of interfacing with ship owners and senior management of large shipping companies, port companies, as well as government officials and will have the drive and ambition to succeed in a very competitive industry sector.

Principal Tasks and Responsibilities

Play a key role as a senior member of the IMDO and broader Marine Institute team supporting the development of Strategic Business Plans and helping implement agreed deliverables.

Play an active role in the development of a competitive environment in Ireland for shipping and related services.

Assist in the design, development and implementation of a promotional and marketing programme aimed at profiling Ireland as an internationally competitive location for ship registration and shipping services.

Liaise closely with the Director on the carrying out of the agreed work programme, review of the programme and the progress made.

Duration of contract

A contract of indefinite duration will be issued for this role, subject to satisfactory completion of a one-year probationary period
