safefood has launched the latest phase of its Rufus handwashing programme which aims to help make learning good handwashing habits fun, and help to keep E.coli at bay. Programme materials includes a new Rufus storybook which uses fun illustrations and rhyme to teach children how and when to wash their hands, particularly after using the toilet; after playing (inside and outside), playing with pets and before eating. safefood is working in partnership with Early Childhood Ireland and Early Years NI to distribute over 4,400 Rufus handwashing packs to crèches, playgroups and pre-schools across the island of Ireland.
