The British Council, in conjunction with the Northern Ireland Science Festival and Cheltenham Science Festival, will host the final of Northern Ireland’s FameLab competition at The Black Box, Belfast on Wednesday, 25 February, 2015. Deadline for video entries is 31 December 2014

FameLab is an exciting competition to find the new voices of science and engineering across the world. We are looking for budding science communicators who think they can explain a science concept in three minutes - anything from why men have nipples to how 3D glasses work. Entrants should be working in or studying science, technology, engineering, medicine or maths in the UK. They are asked to submit a three minute video of their act.

Held annually in over 20 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States, FameLab sees the top new voices from the world of science and engineering deliver short 3-minute pieces on bizarre and pertinent science concepts – anything from why men have nipples to how 3D glasses work. Presentations are then judged according to FameLab’s golden rule – the 3 Cs: Content, Clarity and Charisma.

The winner of FameLab Northern Ireland will go through to the National Final on 22 April 2015 at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London

Full information and entrance criteria can be found on the British Council Northern Ireland website.
