The Food Standards Agency has decided to extend its investigations to other 2 Sisters poultry plants in England and Wales. This follows an initial inspection by the FSA, working with the local authority, into the food hygiene and labelling concerns raised by ITN/Guardian on 28 September at the 2 Sisters Food Group’s West Bromwich plant.

A report commissioned by the Livestock and Meat Commission has found that if the UK fails to agree a post-Brexit trade deal with the EU and has to instead revert to World Trade Organization trading conditions, Northern Ireland beef and sheep meat output could decline by 21%, with exports to the EU collapsing by over 90%.

AN Irish food safety firm has secured a lucrative £15 million contract to provide DNA based traceability for all Swiss beef. IdentiGEN has secured the major Switzerland contract for a initial five-year period and involves the use of the company's DNA-TraceBack system, which will be able to guarantee the integrity of Swiss beef.
