Vacancy: Regulatory Technologist (Kerry)

About the Role:
As member of a very busy team, you will be managing all technical data of new and existing product formulations, and ensuring that accurate and timely information is supplied to the appropriate customers, R&D, manufacturing and commercial teams. You will also assist in procedures relating to certain food safety issues and keeping abreast of forthcoming food-related legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support and maintain ‘best in class service’ legislation service for Kerry customers that reflects business needs and supports group policies
  • Generation of Technical Documents (accurately and to tight time scales)
  • Ingredient Declarations
  • Specifications (Standard and Customer Specific)
  • Allergen/Intolerance Data
  • Nutritional Data
  • Safety Data Sheets
  • Packaging information
  • Key Performance Data
  • Advise on regulatory issues impacting the industry and the Kerry business
  • Labelling, including International Legislation, Salt Reduction, Food Safety Alerts and GMO/Claims
  • Develop effective working relationships with customers
  • Liaise closely with other internal departments
  • Maintain awareness of all proposed and pending new food regulations
  • Remain aware of all health and safety issues relevant to the job
  • Remain fully flexible to meet business requirements

Project: The use of Marine derived antibacterial agents to combat the prevalence of Salmonella in Pork Products

Basic Function of the post: The Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority is seeking to fill a short term position at the Teagasc Food Research Centre Ashtown for an analytical chemist or a natural product chemist. The successful candidate will be involved in the extraction and fractionation of antimicrobial compounds from marine sponges. The primary role of the candidate is to develop a range of analytical methods for structural characterisation of marine derived bioactives. The candidate will work in tandem with the research partners from University College Cork and Teagasc Moorepark in meeting the deliverables of the project.

Title of Project: Enhancement of texture, flavour and nutritional value of meat products for older people (Meat4Vitality)

Location: Cork

Basic Function: The successful candidate will be based at the National Food Imaging Centre (NFIC) in Moorepark under the supervision of Dr. Mark Auty where she/he will prepare and examine a range of foods, primarily meat-based products, for examination by light, confocal and electron microscopy techniques as appropriate and in collaboration with researchers in Ashtown Research Centre, Dublin.
