Title of Project: Low cost solutions for control of Salmonella in pig production.
Basic function: The successful candidate will join a national research team funded by the Food Institutional Research Measure (FIRM) administered by DAFM working on “Targeted low cost solutions for control of Salmonella in pig production
Main Duties and responsibilities:
Under the direction of the project coordinator at Teagasc Ashtown and Task leaders at Teagasc, Moorepark, UCD and WIT;
- Co-ordinate and participate in field trials on pig farms and in pork abattoirs.
- Co-ordinate and participate in the laboratory tasks and data analyses.
- Communicate information on the project to stakeholders and scientific community.
- Assist in preparation of reports.
- Support the supervision of two post graduate students at UCD and WIT who are part of the project team.
- To assist Teagasc in meeting the commitments of the Quality Customer Service charter and action plan.
