SALARY: £29,317 - £31,446


LOCATION: AFBI Hillsborough, Co. Down, BT26 6DR

The successful candidate will join Agriculture Branch’s Sustainable Dairy Systems Team, and will work on a project titled ‘The interaction between genotype and nutrition in high yielding dairy cows in seasonal grass based systems of milk production’ (NutriGen). This project is being led by University College Dublin (UCD), and is being co-funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM) and the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA). The overall objective of the project is to further develop knowledge on the interactions between genotype and nutrition, so as to optimise feed efficiency and energy balance, with particular reference to the nutrition of the high yielding dairy cow at the shoulders of the milk production cycle. The project will involve a combination of desk top studies and feeding experiments.
