Vacancy: IT Executive, Food Safety Authority of Ireland

Job Purpose

To support FSAI staff through the use of Information Technology in carrying out their role of enforcement of food safety legislation and protection of public health and consumer interests in the area of food safety and hygiene in Ireland. The role involves ongoing technical support and enhancements to the IT network infrastructure and services. It will include the development of staff IT skill levels through customer service engagement and bespoke training as required.

Key Accountabilities

• Develop a professional and responsive IT service for FSAI staff, based on ITIL best practice
• Provide day to day operations of the IT Helpdesk, IP telephony and network infrastructures
• Review, plan and implement IT network service upgrades and develop IT facilities
• Install and configure hardware, software and peripherals
• Ensure secure hardware and software systems are highly-available
• Research and resolve IT support problems with both internal and external stakeholders
• Assist staff to ensure optimal usage of IT systems and facilities
• Monitoring the usage of IT systems to assess the skill levels and training or retraining requirements of staff. This will include the delivery of end user training and documentation
• Liaison with the HR function in the implementation of the defined IT training programmes, informally in-house or offsite with an external service provider, as required
• Maintain and develop the FSAI IT Network Administrators handbook
• Other duties as assigned
