The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) is undertaking a competition for the purpose of identifying a suitable candidate for appointment to the position of: Enforcement Policy Manager.
Job Purpose
The jobholder will be responsible for developing, managing and reviewing service contracts with assigned official agencies to ensure compliance with relevant legislation. The appointee will also be responsible for exercising enforcement powers as required.
Job Environment
There are approximately 30 different statutory agencies and authorities (official agencies), which have responsibility in relation to food safety. One of the primary objectives in setting up the Food Safety Authority of Ireland was to ensure that the highest possible standards of food safety were developed, communicated and fully implemented. We strive for a world-class official control system that includes effective risk-based measures of performance, is verified through audits, and delivers the best outcomes for consumers. The key mechanism through which the FSAI will carry out its mission in this regard is through service contracts with the official agencies. While the job-holder for this post may have responsibility for the management of one or more particular service contracts, s/he will need to be aware of the multiplicity of official agencies and professional disciplines involved in this area. The FSAI aims to lead a collaborative food safety community. The job holder will require a range of skills and abilities to secure and maintain the active co-operation of key players in his/her assigned agencies throughout the country. The objective is to manage service contracts and ensure compliance with standards, processes and legislation. The focus is on food law enforcement that is proportionate, risk-based and effective.
