UCC EU Grant Co-ordinator Vacancy

Ireland is in one of the best locations in the World in terms of Marine Renewable Energy (MRE) resources, but requires enabling science and technology to access these resources. The SFI MaREI Centre is a cluster of key university and industrial partners dedicated to solving the main scientific, technical and socio-economic challenges related to ocean energy. These include the optimised deployment of MRE devices, the connection of such devices to the national grid, innovative methods for storing the energy generated, and issues related to marine governance, economics and environmental impact. MaREI is unique in terms of the breadth of expertise, along with scale, level and approach to industry, the access to infrastructure with emphasis on extreme ocean conditions, the inclusion of novel materials, energy storage, and sustainability. MaREI is shared between third-level institutions in Cork, Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Maynooth, in collaboration with more than 45 industry partners.

The EU Grants Coordinator will report to the MaREI Centre Manager and work with the MaREI Centre Manager in ensuring effective and efficient delivery of a high quality funding support service to the Centre PIs. The role will involve close teamwork with the other members of the MaREI Management team. The EU Grants coordinator will be required to develop and maintain relationships with other groups, both internal and external to the Centre, including among others the MaREI PIs, the MaREI industrial partners, the international academic collaborators, funding agencies, other higher education institutions, support functions in the host institute (Finance, research Office, HR) etc. Given the nature of the role, travel both within Ireland and also to EU countries is a requirement for the role.
