Project Title: Cattle Exclusion from Watercourses: Environmental and socio-economic implications (CONTROL)
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Synthesise and evaluate the state of knowledge on the interactions of cattle access and associated agri-environment mitigation measures on freshwater abiotic, biotic and microbial parameters.
- Identify appropriate catchment sites for inclusion in the CONTROL project. Identify subset of sites likely to be included in the ‘Protection of Watercourse’ measure under the proposed GLAS.
- Characterise sites in relation to hydro-morphology, farming management practices and land-use.
- Characterise a subset of sites in relation to Digital Elevation Models to identify areas of converging and diverging flow.
- Take part in the design of field work campaigns for two associated PhD studies.
- Disseminate project results.
- Assist Teagasc in meeting the commitments of the Quality Customer Service charter and action plan.
- Actively participate in the annual business planning and Performance Management Development System (PMDS) processes.
