Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), in collaboration with the Department for Employment and Learning Northern Ireland, has just launched the SFI Investigators Programme for 2014. One of the thematic research areas is ‘Sustainable Food Production and Processing’. This theme is focused on the competitive and efficient production, processing and distribution of sustainable food products. Research and innovation actions within this theme will cover the whole food chain and includes the topics of food traceability and food safety. This is an excellent opportunity for North-South research collaborations in this area on the island if Ireland. Full details of the programme can be found on the SFI website.
