The objective of this call for tender is to keep EFSA informed of any information on the effects linked with microbiota and emulsifiers through a constant monitoring of the scientific literature on the food additives (emulsifiers) listed in the table attached.
Specific objectives: The objectives of the contract resulting from the present procurement procedure are as follows:
- The Contractor should carry out an extensive literature search to identify and retrieve all related information/data published in peer-reviewed journals regarding the effects linked with microbiota and emulsifiers.
- The Contractor should perform the literature search using the following terms: emulsifiers (or each the names/E-numbers for the food additives listed in Table 1) and microbiota or metabolic syndrome or colitis or type 2 diabetes or obesity or nonalcoholic fatty liver disease or steatosis or liver fibrosis or insulin resistance or inflammation or inflammatory bowel disease or Crohn disease or glucose intolerance or lipolysaccharide or endotoxin or toll like receptors.
- The search should include at least three bibliographic database platforms and have to include Web of Science and Pubmed.
- The Contractor should provide monthly reports with the outcome of the literature search and the abstract or summary of the relevant papers. The report should be accompanied by an EndNote library containing the related references.
