Teagasc - Contract Research Officer

Temporary Externally Funded Non Grant-in-Aid Contract post, the indicative duration of which is up to 24 months, subject to contract.

A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies may be filled.

Title of Project: Effects of selected potential new ingredients on composition, processing characteristics and stability properties of infant formula

Location: Teagasc, Food Research Centre, Moorepark, Fermoy, Co Cork
Reporting To: Head of Department and/or other designated manager
Grade/Salary: Research Officer, with a starting salary of €31,729 per annum. The current salary scale is €31,729 to €56,430.

Starting pay will be at the minimum of the scale per Government Circular E100/8/82. Exceptional circumstances may apply for candidates with current or previous service in the public sector (including Teagasc).

Remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government Policy.

Basic Function: Teagasc is seeking to recruit a scientist with a proven track record in Food/Dairy science with experience working with dairy ingredients and infant formula. The successful candidate will have responsibility for studying the interactions between dairy ingredients, including proteins, fats, carbohydrates and micro-nutrients during and post processing.

Background: The position will be based at the Teagasc Moorepark Research Center in Fermoy Co Cork as part of collaboration with an industry partner. The candidate should have an understanding of dairy ingredients and their interactions with other ingredients during processing, i.e., heat treatment, homogenisation and spray drying. Duties will include understanding of analytical and processing of dairy based formulations.
