This workshop will examine the prevalence of established pathogens in Irish animal populations (Camplyobacter, E.coli, Mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis and Rotavirus) and the potential of emerging pathogens (MRSA, Yersinia enterocolitica and Toxoplasma gondii) to become a problem in the Irish situation.  The occurrence and diversity of these species of pathogens will be explained and presentations will be grouped together under the headings porcine and bovine but also animal products and food processing environments.  It will also report on the effectiveness of some control measures such as the effect of diet on Salmonella in cattle and pigs.
