In June 2013, Professor Chris Elliott was asked by the Government to carry out an independent review of Britain’s food system. The final report published in September 2014 addressed the current weaknesses of the UK’s food supply networks and suggested measures to tackle them.

The Environment Secretary responded to the Elliott Review and highlighted significant action taken towards strengthening consumer confidence, tackling food fraud and crime, and supporting the integrity and assurance of food supply networks.

Recently, in April 2015, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the FSA announced food labelling guidance for food business operators in order to align with the Food Information Regulations (FIR) 2014 and European Food Information to Consumer Regulation No 1169/2011 (FIC).

This special symposium provides an opportunity for local authorities, Government agencies, the food industry and other key stakeholders to discuss the latest policy thinking and explore the safeguards required to re-establish the integrity and assurance of our food supply, protect consumers and improve the reputation of our food industry.

Bookings received by 20th November 2015 can avail of a 20% early registration discount off the standard delegate rates.
