The UCD Cantillon Research Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Design is delighted to host the next innovation specialist class as part of the 2016/2017 Intertrade Ireland All Ireland Thought Leadership seminar series. The Intertrade Ireland All-Island Innovation Programme is delivered in partnership with InterTradeIreland, Queen’s University Belfast, NUI Galway, University College Dublin and University College Cork.

The speaker for this event is Dr. Lawrence Dooley, Lecturer of Enterprise and Innovation at the Cork University Business School, UCC (http://research.ucc.ie/profiles/B005/ldooley) and author of the book "Applying Innovation” (https://uk.sagepub.com/en-gb/eur/applying-innovation/book231626). Lawrence will visit UCD on Thursday 6th of April as part of the InterTradeIreland All-Island Innovation programme to deliver a research seminar for local industry entitled “SME Innovation across the R&D spectrum- effecting strategy and management within 'low-tech' SME’s”.

In this seminar, Dr. Dooley will discuss his research of the innovation processes and routines of more than thirty indigenous SME cases across the dichotomy of lower-tech (LMT) and higher-tech (HMT) sectors. The research highlights differences in terms of the types of innovation engaged in and the strategies pursued to nurture competitive advantage and success. A LMT innovation roadmap is proposed to assist managers develop the innovative capability of their SME’s and support the continued sustainability of Ireland’s indigenous SME sector.
