Shellfish Regional Information Sessions are a series of free, informal meetings for official agency officers and staff, BIM and the shellfish industry. They will be held around the coast in September and October this year. The events are an opportunity for all those involved in the shellfish industry to learn more about the role of the Irish Shellfish Monitoring Programme in assisting industry to ensure that live bivalve molluscs placed on the market meet the highest standards of food safety. The events will cover topics such as biotoxin and phytoplankton monitoring, phytoplankton sampling, shellfish traceability, microbiological classification and viruses. The events are being run by the FSAI with the support of the SFPA, the Marine Institute and BIM.
