International Conference & Demonstration Event:

 Strategies to Control Campylobacter in Poultry

 

On Thursday 29th September, Teagasc Food Research Centre, Ashtown, will host an International Conference and Demonstration event on ‘Strategies to Control Campylobacter in Poultry’.

 

This international event, organised by Dr. Declan Bolton and sponsored by Safefood will include the launch of the Safefood Campylobacter Network and will feature presentations by international and national experts, including Prof. Arie Havelaar, National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), The Netherlands and Professor Tom Humphrey, National Centre for Zoonosis Research, University of Liverpool, England. Topics to be covered include prevalence and control in poultry, risk based standards, public health issues, persistence in the food preparation environment and antibiotic resistance. 

 

A demonstration event covering new research outputs funded by the Food Institutional Research Measure [FIRM] on chemical and physical decontamination of poultry and adaptation to sanitisers and other chemical compounds will be open to conference attendees.

 

Poultry producers and processors, veterinarians, catering personnel, public health specialists, regulatory personnel, food safety microbiologists, etc. should attend this event which will include plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.
