This event will bring together key policymakers and stakeholders to discuss the progress made by the UK Agricultural Technologies Strategy, as it moves into its fourth year of implementation, and the direction of agri-tech policy and schemes as a result of the EU referendum.

Delegates will also discuss the future of the UK agri-tech sector and the industrial strategy in light of the recent Government-commissioned report projecting the sector contributing more than £16bn to the economy by 2030 in areas such as precision farming, along with a fall in core agriculture employment, and set out a best practice plan to monitor the strategy’s implementation and measure its success.

Overall, areas for discussion include:
• Future policy landscape for UK agricultural technology;
• Priorities for investment and commercial opportunities post-Brexit;
• Opportunities for boosting UK agri-tech overseas - accessing new markets and emerging sectors;
• Sustainable food systems and agricultural innovation - the future of agri-environment schemes;
• Progress made by the Agri-Tech Catalyst projects and industry partnerships; and
• Update on the new Agrimetrics Centre and harnessing big data in the agri-food industry.

The Westminster Food & Nutrition Forum maintains strong links with key policymakers in Parliament and Government, and a full transcript of the proceedings of this conference - including contributions invited from delegates - will be shared with ministerial, departmental, regulatory and Parliamentary offices of policymakers who take an active interest in the important issues being discussed.
