Free seminar with access to the Lab Innovations EXPO: Food microbiology method testing: validation versus verification
Seminar Summary
Food producers and food testing laboratories need to be able to test foods for microorganisms and obtain results very quickly. This helps with quality assurance and in improving the quality and safety of foods. New microbiological test methods can provide results very quickly, in some cases days before more traditional methods. What everyone needs to know is whether the newer methods give comparable results to traditional methods.
MicroVal is an independent microbiological test method certification scheme that rigorously tests new rapid methods and, if appropriate, certifies that they give equivalent results to traditional methods. This certification fulfils the requirements of EU legislation and of the United States Food and Drug Administration, and would allow the use of these methods to test foods under US FDA control. Besides validation of a method, verification in a validated laboratory is also becoming increasingly important.
This seminar will look at the role of MicroVal, the benefits of method testing and certification, and the detail of the standard (ISO 16140) that is used to validate and verify test methods.
