The IBIS project was established to meet a pressing need for an integrated approach to resource management in aquatic ecosystems. In May, they will present their research findings, demonstrating their application to ecosystem management and environmental policy. Research covers a wide range of topics (fish, invertebrates, birds, genetics and more) and spans the island of Ireland and Scotland.
The programme includes interesting sessions on:
- Animal movement
- Habitat fragmentation / barriers to migration
- Management and conservation strategies for trout
- Conservation of rare aquatic animals
- Invasive species
- Oyster fisheries management
- Aquaculture
- Environmental monitoring
