The School of Asian Studies, UCC in conjunction with the Food Industry Training Unit, College of Science, Engineering and Food Science at UCC are pleased to announce an industry briefing and workshop for developing strategies in the Chinese dairy sector. Over the last decade the market for dairy products and infrastructure has increased significantly and is still growing; however how to implement strategies to gain market access in such a challenging environment is not clear cut. This workshop will provide a platform for current and future executives leading the Irish agricultural and food sector in Asia to engage in an open and constructive dialogue about the challenges and opportunities facing the Irish dairy industry in China. The day and a half programme will involve; international and established speakers familiar with the dairy sector in China; Harvard style case-based learning using real-world scenarios; presentation of diplomatic, academic and practitioner perspectives. 

Highlighted issues will include:

• China’s current and emerging food policies

• Scope of relevant Chinese ministries and how to interpret what is being said

• Emerging Chinese dairy corporates: main players and directions • Managing joint ventures, market entry and sustainability

• HR issues: managing multicultural teams

• Marketing challenges: brand development and legal issues in China (including IPR) Case Study:

• Participants will be issued with the workshop case-study three weeks beforehand. Full programme to follow.
