We are delighted to announce that the Minister of State for Research and Innovation, Mr Sean Sherlock, will attend the “Food Innovation Gateways – R&D supports for the expanding Food Industry” event in Teagasc Food Research Centre, Moorepark, Fermoy, Co Cork on 12th December 2012.

Furthermore we are please to add to our list of guest speakers Dr Peter Robbins, Director, The Innovation Foundation, who will present to delegates on how to increase innovation in food businesses.

Budget 2013 has recognised the importance of the food and agriculture sector. Mary Nyhan of RSM Farrell Grant Sparks will explain the following developments


 1.  Tax measures to allow for consolidation
 2.  Improvement of the R&D tax regime
 3.  Extension of the Employment Investment Incentive scheme until 2020

State supports for food research and development will be presented by Bord Bia and Enterprise Ireland.

The event presents a unique opportunity to meet key stakeholders in the Irish food innovation system.  Teagasc food researchers based at both Moorepark and Ashtown will be present to discuss with delegates innovative technologies, infrastructures and services which contribute to growing Irish food companies in the major food sectors such as meat, dairy, ingredients, health food, seafood and bakery.

Delegates will also have access to the Teagasc Food Technologies Portfolio. There will also be a full programme of exhibits as outlined in the attached ‘Teagasc Food Innovation Gateways Programme Moorepark’

9.20 – 9.40: Address by Seán Sherlock T.D. Minister for Research & Innovation

9.40 – 10.00: “Taxation: Making Innovation and Technological Advances more Cost Effective” Presentation by Mary Nyhan, RSM Farrell Grant Sparks, Dublin

10.00 – 10.20: “R&D Supports for Food Innovation” Presentation by Jenny Melia, Enterprise Ireland

10.20 – 10.40: “Innovation: Bord Bia's Approach” Presentation by Tara McCarthy, Bord Bia

10.40 – 11.00: “Making Innovation Happen” Presentation by Dr. Peter Robbins, Innovation Foundation

From 11.00 onwards: Tours of the facilities with research updates, services and offers on display including stands by the Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine, Bord Bia and Enterprise Ireland.
