On Friday 24th November 2017 the 13th symposium of the Scientific Committee of the Belgian Food Safety Agency will take place on:

CHEMICAL RISKS IN THE FOOD CHAIN:
CHALLENGES FOR THE RISK ASSESSOR AND THE RISK MANAGER

The recent Fipronil crisis did put food safety back into the focal attention of our society and showed the vulnerability of the food chain.

The objective of this symposium is to discuss short- and long-term challenges for the risk assessor and risk manager confronted with (emerging) chemical risks in the food chain. Issues such as consumer exposure, risk characterization, control measures and risk communication will be addressed. Specific challenging cases (microplastics, nanomaterials, mineral oil, …) will be presented. A look on chemical food safety perspectives in the EU by 2050 will also be given.

The target audience consists of an international public of risk assessors, risk managers, policy makers, stakeholders, producers, consumers, consultants and students.

The symposium will be given in English. Simultaneous translation in Dutch and French will be provided.
