Conference Aim

This conference will provide a multidisciplinary forum to consider how public health can benefit from the recent advances in bioinformatics, microbiology, virology and genomics. The use of ‘second’- and ‘third’-generation sequencing technologies to understand microbial pathogenesis, virulence, diversity and host-pathogen interactions will be a particular focus of this meeting.

Target Audience
·     Public health professionals including zoonotics, microbiology and virology researchers
·     Public Health specialists, epidemiologists, informatics specialists
·     Bioinformatics researchers, technologists and computer scientists

Scientific topics/sessions
·         Improving our understanding of understanding of microbial pathogenesis and virulence, diversity and host-pathogen interactions
·         The impact of new technologies on microbial diagnostics, typing and surveillance
·         Addressing the bioinformatic challenges of using Next-Gen (and other) data
·         Translating developments in microbial typing and diagnostics into improved infection management and control, and improved
      surveillance and alert systems.
