Chemical Residues in Food Networks Annual Conference

Anthelmintics: Emerging Issues with Drug Residues and Drug Resistance
21st February 2012

The Chemical Residues in food safefood networks will hold a one day conference on the 21st of February 2012 themed around ‘Anthelmintics: Emerging Issues with Drug Residues and Drug Resistance’ at the Teagasc Research Centre, Ashtown, Dublin.

Gastrointestinal nematode infections represent a considerable threat to the welfare of grazing livestock and impose a significant cost in terms of productivity.  Currently the industry relies heavily on the administration of broad-spectrum anthelmintics to maintain acceptable levels of animal performance by removing resident worm burdens for a period following treatment. This conference will bring together researchers, industry and regulators across the Island of Ireland to discuss key topics of interest and concerns relating to the impact of emerging issues in relation to anthelmintics.

Topics

  • Monitoring of residues
  • Anthelmintic Resistance
  • Future drug developments and vaccines

Presentation slots are available for both posters and oral presentations. Abstracts (200 words maximum) should be submitted online by Thursday the 15th of December 2011.  Participation and attendance are free of charge to members.
