The Scientific Committee of the FASFC organizes on Friday 11th March 2016 its 11th annual international symposium in Brussels. This year the subject is:

TREND WATCHING AND FOOD SAFETY CONTROL

Large amounts of new data related to the food chain are continuously being generated and used by risk assessors, decision makers and stakeholders. Trend watching can help to interpret these data. The objective of the symposium is to discuss trend watching methodologies used by risk assessors, risk managers and stakeholders and show examples how these methods can be applied to the safety control and safety evaluation of the food chain. In an era of budgetary restrictions, trend watching may be a tool to help decision makers to design risk-based control programs, evaluate their effects and take proportionate and decisive actions to protect consumers. Operators in the food chain may use trend watching in the control of their production processes.
