Experience and expertise in food safety

I work at Photek Ltd as a Research Engineer. I am currently working on an R&D project called ‘BioliSME’ funded by the EUROPEAN COMMISSION, jointly involving the contributions of Photek Ltd, Ainia Centro Tecnologico, University of Southampton, Dublin City University, 40-30 and Beatelgeux. The objective of Biolisme is to develop a system to monitor the contamination levels of Listeria monocytogenes in industrial food producing plants in a more fast, safe and efficient manner than current tools. Photek’s involvement in this project is to develop a compact and sensitive fluorescent measurement system (Biosensor), capable of detecting very small amounts Listeria monocytogenes on worktops and surfaces.
