JOB ENVIRONMENT The FSAI is an independent statutory body, set up under the Food Safety Authority of Ireland Act 1998. The principal function of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland is to protect consumers and raise compliance through partnership, science and food law enforcement. The FSAI carries out its enforcement function through service contracts with Official Agencies such. The FSAI has service contracts in place with agencies such as the Health Service Executive, the local authorities, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, the Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority, the Marine Institute and the State Laboratory.
