<p>There were 534 sick people as of late October with the majority falling ill since June. The first patient was in September 2020 and the peak was 80 cases reported in one week.</p>

This is similar to findings from previous beef and pork surveys in 2015 and 2017.</p>
<p>The annual survey tests meat products on sale in the UK for the presence of certain types of antimicrobial resistant (AMR) E. coli. <a href="https://www.food.gov.uk/research/foodborne-diseases/eu-harmonised-survey-of-antimicrobial-resistance-amr-on-retail-meats-pork-and-beefchicken-0">Year 5 of the survey</a> was carried out between January and December 2019 and saw sampling focus on beef and pork. Previous surveys have also looked at AMR contamination in chicken.</p>
