<p>Data shows a decline in Listeria, Yersinia and norovirus cases while hepatitis A and E infections increased in the past year.</p>
<p>During 2019, there were six cases of Listeria monocytogenes reported to Health Protection Scotland (HPS), the lowest number seen in recent years. There were 12 cases reported in 2018 and 17 infections in 2017.</p>

<p>New data that have become available since the last assessment in 2006 suggest that OTA can be genotoxic by directly damaging the DNA. Experts also confirmed that it can be carcinogenic to the kidney. Therefore experts calculated a<span> </span><a href="https://www.efsa.europa.eu/en/topics/topic/margin-exposure">margin of exposure</a><span> </span>(MOE). This is a tool used by risk assessors to consider possible safety concerns arising from the presence in food and feed of substances which are both genotoxic and carcinogenic.</p>

<p>The person died in 2017 after eating a “super-veg rainbow flatbread” which was supposed to be dairy-free.</p>
<p>Sandwich chain Pret said it was mis-sold a guaranteed dairy-free yoghurt, as it contained dairy protein.</p>
<p>But the company who sold Pret the yoghurt denied that it is to blame and said the “true cause” is unknown.</p>
